To begin, find a peaceful place in nature that you can get lost in your own thoughts. Begin your walking meditation by blowing out your aura. To do this simply raise your arms out at shoulder level while walking and let the breeze “blow you out”. Take in as many deep breaths as you wish. Now expand your aura out as far as you can from all sides. Say out loud, “Polarize, Expand, HAH!” repeat a couple of time increasing your volume. By the time I am done and get to the last HAH!, an echo that can be heard. Put yourself in a ball of golden white light and say, “I am ready for messages to come to me from Spirit", and begin your walk.
Let it go, don’t over think and look for something at every step. Just walk at a pace that is comfortable, keep breathing and just notice what you notice. If you feel the need to stop and just observe, do so. Just let your intuition guide you. When you have completed your walk, thank Spirit by saying, “ I am now done with my meditation, I now close my space, thank you spirit, thank you guides and totems.” Contemplate on what you noticed. All of the signs will come together to give you a message or clarification. Here are some examples of things that have happened to me so you get an idea of what to expect.
* I have had a little dust devil appear in front of me, this signified the turmoil that I was going through at the time. The good news was that it disappeared rather quickly, so I knew the issues would not last long.
* Frogs were croaking in a pond in the middle of the afternoon on a clear day. I looked up frog totem and it talked about a spiritual cleanse and that I was beginning a transformation process from an old life into a new. This sign appeared at the beginning stages of my development, so this was very prevalent.
* Someone walked by, pointed, and said, “Oh look, a Blue Bird” in a sing songy voice. This again was a totem message. This totem’s message was that I was coming into my own in many different ways with a sense of relaxed confidence and happiness. Also Bluebird stated to take some time in a large open space and do a walking meditation. I tell ya, I can’t make this up!
I can go on and on, each time that I intend do a walking meditation, I receive a message that I need to hear at that moment. I suggest getting an animal totem book and get out there and go for a walk. I prefer “Animal Spirit Guides”, by Steven D. Farmer. (This can also be downloaded to your e-reader).
If you would like to share any signs or messages you received during a walking meditation, please comment.
